Privacy

Promptly collects nothing about you. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics and no third-party SDK. This page explains why that is a description of how the app is built rather than a promise about how it is operated.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect personal data, usage data, diagnostics, identifiers or crash reports. We could not: Promptly has no servers, makes no network requests to us, and contains no analytics or advertising code. Our App Store privacy label therefore declares no data collected and no data linked to you.
Where your notes live
Your notes are stored on your device. If you have iCloud switched on, they also sync through your own iCloud account, in your private database. That is Apple's service and your storage — we have no access to it, cannot read it, and are not a party to it. Apple's privacy policy governs that sync.
You can export everything as plain JSON at any time, and delete everything from within the app.
The features that use AI
Answers, suggested topics and written recaps are produced on your device by the model Apple ships with iOS. Your notes are not sent anywhere to produce them, and they work with the network switched off.
Make a prompt
This feature assembles your own notes into text and places that text on your device's clipboard. Promptly does not send it anywhere and has no integration with any AI service.
What happens after you paste it is outside the app and outside our control. If you paste it into a third-party AI assistant, that service's own privacy policy and terms apply to what you have given it. The screen shows you the entire text before you copy it, and offers to replace people's names and notebook names with stand-ins, precisely so this is an informed decision. The key mapping those stand-ins back to real names never leaves your device and is never part of what you copy.
Permissions
Each of these is optional, is requested only at the moment you first use the feature that needs it, and can be withdrawn in iOS Settings. In every case the data is used on your device and is not transmitted to us.
- Microphone and speech recognition — for spoken notes, transcribed on device.
- Camera — for scanning text from a page or a whiteboard.
- Reminders and Calendar — to send a note onward when you choose to, and to match a meeting to a notebook.
- Contacts — to put a name and a face on a notebook you keep for a person. Promptly asks for one contact at a time and reads names only.
Purchases
Promptly Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase exists.
Children
Promptly is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a future version of the app ever collects anything, that will be said here plainly and before it happens — not buried in a release note.
